What monthly leasing between companies is, and what it is not
In the Saudi labor market, there are companies whose workers have finished their project or whose work has slowed down, and other companies that need the same number of workers for a few months. Monthly leasing between companies brings the two sides together: the providing company makes its workers available for a set period, the receiving company uses them on a project, an operation or a season, and then the workers go back to their own company.
The agreement here is between two companies, not between the receiving company and the worker. The worker stays an employee of their original employer, the two companies agree in writing on the period, the fee and the responsibilities, and the arrangement is then documented through the official channel before the work starts.
In searches, this meaning gets mixed up with three things that are not part of it:
- Domestic workers by the month: for these there is the Musaned platform and licensed recruitment offices, and they are not offered on Ajeerk.
- Day laborers from the street: a worker with no documented arrangement who works for someone other than their employer, which is exactly what Article 39 of the Saudi Labor Law prohibits.
- Transfer of services: the worker moves to a new employer for good, whereas in leasing the worker goes back to their company when the period ends.
People search for this arrangement under many names: monthly labor leasing, monthly labor rental, monthly worker hire, workers by the month, and workers on monthly contracts. In a business context they all mean the same arrangement, and what matters is that it is between two companies and documented.
A quick comparison: monthly, annual, recruitment and day labor
| Option | Who the employer is | Commitment | When work can start | Official channel |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly leasing between two companies | The providing company | The months set in the agreement | After the agreement and documentation, with the worker already in Saudi Arabia | To be confirmed before contracting: a suitable service on the Ajeer platform or a licensed provider |
| Annual contract or framework agreement | The providing company | A year or more, with orders as needed | Like monthly leasing, with longer planning | The same documentation for every worker and every period |
| Recruiting a new worker from abroad | Your company | A direct employment contract | Usually slower, as the worker comes from outside Saudi Arabia | Licensed recruitment offices and companies |
| Undocumented day labor | Unclear | No commitment | Seems faster | No channel: a violation if the worker works for someone other than their employer |
What sets monthly leasing apart is that it combines quick access to a worker who is already in Saudi Arabia with a defined commitment that can end when the work ends.
When monthly leasing is the smartest choice
- A project with a fixed duration: a site that needs carpenters and steel fixers for the structure, after which their part is done, so permanent hiring makes no sense.
- Seasonal peaks: Ramadan, summer, the Hajj and Umrah seasons, harvest, and full maintenance shutdowns at factories. See seasonal labor for companies.
- Absences or leave in your team: temporary cover for an operational job until the person who holds it comes back.
- Waiting for recruited workers to arrive: filling the gap with a worker who is already in Saudi Arabia until the new worker arrives.
- Trying out a new profession or site: you start with a small number for a few months before you decide to hire.
Monthly leasing does not suit permanent work with no end; there, direct hiring or recruitment is clearer for both sides and for the worker.
Step by step on Ajeerk
- Post your ad for free: a “Lease request” if you need workers (the profession, the number, the city, the period in months, and the budget if you wish), or “Workers for lease” if you have workers available.
- Or browse the ads by profession and city in Workers for lease and Lease requests.
- Press “Request contact” on the right ad. No mobile numbers or emails appear in any ad.
- The request goes to the Ajeerk team, who get in touch with both sides from Ajeerk’s unified number.
- The two companies agree in writing on the price, the period and the terms. Ajeerk is not a party to the agreement.
- Confirm the official channel and document the arrangement before the work starts: the government Ajeer platform if the arrangement falls under one of its services, or a licensed labor services provider. The next section explains why supervision decides the channel.
Who supervises the worker? The question that decides the channel
The rules regulating the outsourcing of services between companies through the Ajeer program were issued by Ministerial Decision 60339 and apply from 25 January 2026. They regulate the outsourcing of a service with a defined scope and period, carried out under the supervision of the company providing the service, with payment tied to the outputs, and the Ministry ties the secondment permits on Ajeer to them.
A worker who works under the supervision of the receiving company for a monthly payment, however, is not what these rules describe, and their first article distinguishes this from the outsourcing of services. We have not verified that another route for it exists on Ajeer. So the two companies agree in writing on who supervises the worker, and before contracting they confirm the right channel: a service on the Ajeer platform that suits their arrangement, or a licensed labor services provider.
What goes in the agreement before the work starts
A two-page written agreement prevents most disputes. Check these points before you sign:
- Profession and scope of work: exactly what the worker will do, within the profession licensed for them, and what is not part of their work.
- Site and city: where they will work, and whether they move between more than one site.
- Period: the start and end dates, and whether it can be extended and with how much notice.
- Working hours and overtime: the number of hours, the shifts, how overtime is calculated and who approves it.
- Housing, transport and meals: who covers each of them.
- Replacement: what happens if the worker is absent or does not suit the work.
- Early termination: the notice period, and what is paid for the days already worked.
- Payment: the monthly fee, when it is due, and linking it to an attendance record signed by both sides.
- Safety: protective equipment, a site induction, and responsibility for work injuries.
- Non-solicitation: the receiving company does not offer the worker a move to it outside the official channels.
Cost factors in brief
There is no standard price for a monthly worker. The price changes with the profession and experience, the city and site, the length of the period, who covers housing, transport and meals, and the working hours. Compare offers on the same points, not on the number alone. The guide to the cost of monthly labor leasing explains each of these factors, with a table of the prices that advertisers post on Ajeerk once there are enough of them.
Professions and cities where monthly leasing is common
- Skilled labor leasing for projects: electricians, plumbers, welders, AC technicians and equipment operators.
- Offering surplus workers for lease: if your company is the one that has the workers.
- Labor leasing in Riyadh, labor leasing in Jeddah, and labor leasing in Dammam and the Eastern Province.
- The difference between labor supply and labor leasing, if you are comparing your options.
